Rev. Mark and Karen Garner visited Ukraine in May 2022 with the “Youth With A Mission” Team. Through donations from the Great River Region and other friends and organizations, he raised $8,000 along with supplies to use toward a refuge center in Poland. Pinnacle Outreach Ministry also contributed four large suitcases to the project. Mark will return to Ukraine with the same team in August or October to assist in building and repairing housing near Kyiv for families before winter sets in.
On Friday, August 5, 2022, the Regional Board affirmed this project as a wider mission focus of the Great River Region. We are asking all congregations and constituency groups to support this international project as our witness to God’s work in the world, through Mark and Karen’s call to service. We are asking for donations to help Volodymyr and Ira, a couple Mark met in Chernobyl, raise the $25,000 needed to complete the construction of an orphanage for children and youth.
