Disaster Relief

Regional Service Project - May 2025

In 2023, a deadly EF-4 tornado devastated Rolling Fork, destroying hundreds of homes, including much of the affordable rental housing in this rural community.

Week of Compassion and The Great River Region is partnering with “Rolling Fork Rising” to build new homes and create opportunities for homeownership for renters displaced by the tornado. A team served the week of May 18-24, 2025, as a Region.

Dan and Zena Marshall from Fort Smith were our worksite coordinators. Our group of volunteers helped to rebuild Rolling Fork. By actively participating in the rebuilding process,  joined a community of like-minded individuals dedicated to making a lasting impact. The shared sense of purpose fosters a supportive environment where camaraderie flourishes, creating friendships that extend beyond the project’s duration.
